Originally designed by Bregman + Hamann Architects with Durell as the design consultant, First Canadian Plac constructed in 1975. First Canadian Place is the tallest sky in Canada and is located in the heart of Toronto's Financial The exterior cladding of the lower tower is composed of marble and there are approximately 45,000 marble panels exterior of this 72 storey building. Over the next year and the existing marble panels will be replaced with new brilliant frilled laminated glass panels.
Clifford Restoration was selected as the contractor to perfect removal of the existing cladding and remedial repair work building envelope. Clifford Restoration services also installation of the suspended elevated platforms (SEP), installation of the protection hoarding at King Street and roof podium Clifford Restoration will be working in conjunction with El Corporation, Atlantic Hoisting & Scaffold and Soto Glazing as part of the building restoration team. Careful consideration for public safety and maintaining accessibility along this pedestrian corridor in the busy Financial district had to be the most challenging task during the recent upgrades to the building's exterior podium as well as the significant renovations to the existing North Tower Lobby.
